Andrew Lanza ENT3003 Professor Pryor 9/28/17 Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2 Who? Although there were people I interviewed who fell outside the boundary (were not afraid of spilling their drinks in the car), I feel that none of them really are outside  the boundary. This is because all the people I interviewed were drivers, and all of them said they had spilled drinks in the car before.  What?  I think in this particular sense, the need I have identified, better cupholders for cars, is effectively the same thing as better cups to hold drinks in. For that reason, I do not think I have delved into something separate than I originally set out to research. Why?  For the same reason that I found the 'What?' to be within the scope of my research, I will say that even though they were outsiders, they were drivers, and they did  fear spilling their drinks because they had  done so before. Inside the boundary Outside the boundary Who is I...

Andrew Lanza ENT3003 Professor Pryor 9/28/17 You Have An Opportunity, Now What? 1) The opportunity I have chosen is the adaptable car cupholder. 2) Drivers in the United States (and around the world) are spilling their drinks either on their car interior or on themselves as they drive because there's insufficient methods for holding their beverages in their motor vehicles.  The Who: Drivers around the world  The What: Unable to hold their drinks securely as they drive The Why: Because their cupholder isn't built to hold a Big Gulp, tumbler, etc.  3) I believe that all drivers globally have a potential interest in this opportunity, although I do not believe this problem affects all drivers globally. That is, I believe anyone who drives could have a problem holding their drink. I believe this because most all cupholders are designed very similarly, and the variations in cup design have been growing and will continue to grow as time goes on. However, I...

Andrew Lanza ENT3003 Professor Pryor 9/28/17 Solving the Problem 1) My selected opportunity is the problem of beverage spillage in cars around the United States (and world). The insufficiency of car cupholders causes beverage spillage to thousands of drivers annually. 2) The product I intend to sell to combat this problem is an adaptable car cupholder device. The device will have a weight in the bottom part (the part that goes in the cupholder) in order to keep it sturdy and prevent spillage. It will also have adjustable grips for the sides of the beverage in the holding part of the device. It will have a release button that opens the grips widely, and a form fitting button that tightly and securely adjusts the grips to the dimensions of your beverage.

4a: Opportunity Belief

Andrew Lanza ENT3003 Professor Pryor 09/05/17 4A: Forming An Opportunity Belief          1. When I was getting on the road to make the drive back to Tampa (home) recently, I turned left onto the interstate, launching my poorly secured beverage all over the passenger side floor. This helped me identify an unmet need for an  adaptable cupholder.       2. I feel that this need exists because drivers everywhere have cups that vary in size, many too large to securely be held by factory-size cupholders. I suppose this need arose some time ago when drink sizes began to supersede the size of automobile cupholders. In the United States, large cups are increasingly popular, and have been for years. Especially in recent years with the rise in popularity of tumblers, I feel that this need is perhaps currently at its peak. Additionally, people are buying different drink containers to accommodate for their cupholder size. Take a morning comm...

Andrew Lanza ENT3003 Professor Pryor 09/05/17 5A: Identifying Local Opportunities 1. "Sizzling reviews for a meatless burger" http://infoweb.newsbank.com.lp.hscl.ufl.edu/resources/doc/nb/news/1670DD4FC8830420?p=WORLDNEWS The story is about a burger that contains no meat and how it has taken local Tampa Bay restaurants by storm. The problem presented in the story is how, with American meat consumption, greenhouse gas levels soar. I suppose that means it's our  problem as people to deal with our environment, but the "Impossible Burger" eliminates the greenhouse gases by not using meat.  2. "Suit: Sirens injured ears" http://infoweb.newsbank.com.lp.hscl.ufl.edu/resources/doc/nb/news/1670DD4FB384A8E0?p=WORLDNEWS The story is about a man who filed a lawsuit against a local fire department for its unnecessary overuse of sirens. The problem is the siren being too loud. The problem is on the fire department, as the doppler effect noises f...

3a My Entrepreneurship Story

Image
Andrew Lanza Professor Chris Pryor ENT3003 09/01/17 My Entrepreneurship Story      A very cool time in my life when I was exposed to entrepreneurship frequently was when was attending my high school. On our career days, every year, I would sign up to watch the entrepreneurial lecture as one of my three specialization fields I wanted to watch the presentations of. The presenters were always incredible. Super successful, nice guys talking about how they made their idea into something huge was very inspiring, especially it coming from the parents of my peers. One presenter, who came more than once, was Michael Galinski. He is a business owner and entrepreneur from St. Petersburg, FL, my hometown. He invented a certain type of circuit for computers that is really valuable, and then started a company called America II Electronics, which now has over 600 employees and is one of the world's largest producers of semiconductors and electric components ( America II Electr...

2a Bug List

Andrew Lanza ENT3003 Professor Chris Pryor 09/01/17 Bug List 1) The traffic on Archer Road during from 11-1:30 and then 3-6:30 every day:  Why -The road is too narrow for the demand (flow of traffic/volume of cars) in the area. 2) The lint in my drying machine always makes a mess when I try to remove it: Why -There's no clean/definite/easy way to get all of the lint without some falling off onto the floor. 3) Stubbing my toe on the corner of my couch is really painful: Why - The corner of most furniture is made of very sturdy material and therefore would be pretty painful to kick. 4) The road is more difficult to navigate when people don't use their blinkers: Why - The laws on using blinkers are marginally enforced for how often this error in driving causes accidents/damage 5) When you talk to your friend about buying a blender and 5 minutes later a blender is suggested in your search browser: Why - There's no privacy anymore, I'm alway...
